How to Commute Within Haridwar

Haridwar is fairly small and can be covered by foot. However, cycle rickshaws are available to commute locally and to get to the train and bus station. Most cycle rickshaws make trips in and around Haridwar for not more than Rs. 40/-. Short distances should cost Rs. 10/- whereas longer distances should cost Rs.  25/- (from the station to Hari-ki-Pauri, for instance). If you want to hire a taxi for more than three hours to visit ashrams and local temples, then it may cost you Rs. 400/-. For a similar distance, auto-rickshaws can cost around Rs. 200/-. During the season, pilgrimages or festivals prices may rise and it may also be difficult to get local transport. It is better to make a booking ahead of time. For local sightseeing tours and guided tours in Hardwar and Chardham Yatras, there are many travel agents available. Even the hotels that you stay in can help you with contacts of taxi services. Auto rickshaws and Cycle rickshaws are found in abundance outside train and bus stations.
